Python Adventure Game: Python Quest

Guide Pip across forests, bridges and meadows to the treasure — every step is a line of real Python you write yourself.

About this python adventure game

Most Python text adventures ask you to read a story. Python Quest flips it: the story is on the map and you write the code that moves the hero. Each quest teaches one idea — calling a function, a for loop, a variable, your own function, an if, then a while loop — and the map is reshuffled on later quests so the only way through is code that actually reasons about it.

How to play Python Quest

  1. Read the quest card under the map — it says the goal and which commands you have.
  2. Type Python into the editor over the map. With Auto on, each finished line runs as you type it; or press Run.
  3. Pip walks the path line by line. Collect every coin or gem, then open the chest with collect() to win.
  4. Finish in fewer lines to earn all three stars.

All 6 levels — what each one teaches

Frequently asked questions

Is Python Quest a text adventure game?

No — it is a graphical adventure. Instead of typing commands like "go north" into a prompt, you write a short Python program and watch the hero follow it across the map. It teaches the same Python you would use to write a text adventure of your own.

Can I make my own Python adventure game after this?

Yes. Once loops, functions and if statements feel natural, the simple Python games with code guide walks through small games you can build and run in the online compiler.

Is it free, and do I need to sign up?

It is free with no account. The game runs in your browser and saves your progress in this browser only.

Does it run real Python?

Yes. Your code runs on CPython compiled to WebAssembly (Pyodide) inside the page. Errors are real Python errors, and an endless loop is stopped after a few seconds instead of freezing the tab.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. On narrow screens the editor sits at the bottom of the game. For longer coding sessions on Android, the free Coding Python app has a full Python editor.
